Besides, in most parts of Sweden the costumes where beginning to go out of use by the middle of the 19th century when the emigration began, so there would not have been that many wearig them when arriving in the first place...<br /><br />The fact that we wear the costumes at all today (except for a few places, where the tradition have been in some practice to this day) is that it became very popular amongst the middle and higher classes at the turn of the 20th century, when the national romanticism swept through Europe. So what seems to be so very traditional is actually a recreated thing... Jo, det är vadmal, och det var lite knepigt ...Tack! Jo, det är vadmal, och det var lite knepigt att vecka, men allt går med övertalning. Det var tungt att sy också. Jag kan förstå att kjolsömnaden oftast lämnades till byskräddaren, men jag är nöjd med resultatet, så det var värt det.
