100th Post Giveaway

This is my 100th post. Wow. I’ve been very interested in seeing where you, my dear readers, are all located. I’ve had visitors from the USA, Sweden, Germany, Australia, Canada, Poland, Israel, Egypt, the Netherlands, South Korea, China, Pakistan, Denmark, Finland, Russia, Latvia, France, Kenya and Austria, amongst others.

Some of you are my real life friends, others have become my friends over the internet, and some are complete strangers, but you’re all equally welcome and appreciated. To show my appreciation I will have a giveaway. Today I’ve made a wool embroidery, which will be made into a pincushion similar to the one I made a few weeks ago.

It’s free hand embroidered on black wool, in blue, yellow, olive green, and two shades of red. The embroidered square is 7x7 cm. If you are interested, post a comment (if you’d like to say a few words about yourselves that’d be nice), and I will draw a winner next Sunday.

Actually, the reason I’ve not posted for a while is that I wanted to host a giveaway, but didn’t have time to make something suitable until now. A lot is going on in my life, and the past week I haven’t got any sewing done – however, my corded petti is getting close to finished, so I’ll post about that shortly. Then I have a lot of other things I’m working on or planning – so much I want to do, so little time :)

  1. Hello! I'm Lisa, and I'm a pretty new reader. I'm sorry I haven't said "hello" before now! The work you do is so gorgeous. I really wish I could do work like you do.

A little about me: I'm a student in California, USA, married, and I have two cats. I love to sew, and I used to work in a fabric store. I'm trying to write a book this month, and failing miserably.

It's nice to meet you! The pincushion is beautiful!

  2. I'd love to receive this! I've just started a program in textile conservation and with pins being a main tool of the trade I am badly in need of a new pin cusion! It's very pretty.

  3. My name is Kajsa and I live in Sundsvall, Sweden with my husband, two children and a cat. I must say I´m very impressed by your beautiful work. Most women in my family have been very skilled at handicraft, but unfortunately I seem totally devoid of talent for this. I would love to have a pin cusion like this one, I hope it will inspire me to learn how to sew!

  4. Greetings! My name is Elizabeth, and I live in Ontario, Canada. I have enjoyed looking at your blog over the past year or so - I find it very inspiring to see the beautiful handiwork that you do. You are very talented at all the things I wish I could pursue but am too busy to focus on! My life is filled with music (I sing with choirs, perform traditional folk music, teach music lessons, and am studying to be a church organist), which is wonderful - but lately it does not leave much time for sewing, spinning, weaving, and all the other sorts of handiwork that interest me. Thank you for doing all the lovely things that you do, and for sharing them with us!

  5. You know me - but maybe you didn't know I was following your blog. I read it in amazement at how incredibly skilled (and patient!) you are. One day I want to learn as well, but until then I will stay with my very simple encounters with needle and thread, and in the meantime enjoy your fabulous creations.

  6. We enjoy your blog because of your gift for sewing and also for the love of Swedish heritage we share with you! I love your wool pincushion and think it would be a lovely gift. ~Ivis B.

  7. Hi, my name is Amy and I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah. I thoroughly enjoy your blog, I feel that we are kindred spirits even though I've never met you. Perhaps it's because my family's from Sweden. I'm LDS, teach humanities at the local college, do consulting work for art and history museums, and am a historical interpreter. I absolutely adore you and your blog!!
